Teams with 2011 draft picks have until May 3rd to say whether or not they will extend those contracts for another year. The Houston Texans did not wait until the May 3rd deadline to exercise that 5th year option for DE J.J. Watt.
The next step, now that J.J. is locked as a Houston Texan for the next two years, would be to sign him to a long term deal. He most definitely deserves it especially considering the former Defensive Player of the Year has racked up 217 tackles and 36.5 sacks in his first 3 years as a pro.
